Preparation & Prayer
Steve helped organize our essentials before leaving for his date with Denise. With our outreach van being used for youth camp, we adapted by organizing supplies from the backs of Kathryn, Vangie, and Linda’s vehicles. Because of the rain, we gathered inside the church foyer for our pre-outreach meeting.
Vangie prepared two pots of homemade minestrone soup with cheese and Hawaiian rolls, and Kolton assisted her with serving throughout the afternoon.
(Don is currently in the hospital. We continue praying for his healing in Jesus’ Name. Amen.)
Jan and Wally joined us for their first outreach with this team. The team welcomed them and expressed gratitude for their willingness to serve.
Korey reviewed safety procedures and the heart of the ministry — providing information for those seeking detox, assisting with placement when ready, and helping locate treatment facilities afterward. We emphasized unity and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. Korey prayed over the team, and we headed out.
Outreach Locations & Encounters
277th & Pacific Hwy – 1:50 PM
Hector
Hector and Korey spoke about his homelessness and prayed for housing provision.
Tony
Tony hung out with us and talked about his situation, his desire to find a job, and his faith in Jesus — who he said is “everything” to him. He shared that he prays daily, relies on God every day, and continually asks the Lord to help him through his struggles. He let us pray with him.
Tony also gave us insight that many people were gathered inside the Woodmont Library because of the heavy rain.
Brooke
We have seen Brooke before, so it was good to see her again. She remembered us and was happy to receive supplies. One of her court cases is still in process, and another has recently been dropped — which we believe we prayed for the last time we saw her.
Kathryn prayed for her as the rest of the team gathered around in agreement for continued provision in her housing, her children, and favor in the remaining legal matter. She received a warm jacket from Kathryn, a sweater from Linda, along with hot food and essentials.
Because of the heavy rain and fewer individuals present at 277th & Pacific Hwy, I (Korey) sent a team of five ahead to gather individuals who were inside the Woodmont Library while we wrapped up ministry at that location.
As the rest of the team arrived at the library, we parked and waited for our street friends to come out.
Dan Davis and I (Korey) went inside the library to check on everyone and get eyes on the team. The team gathered approximately 6–7 individuals from inside and brought them out to the parking lot where we were able to serve them.
Woodmont Library
Derek (and his dog Luna)
Received essentials, hot food, and dog food for Luna.
Casey
Received essentials.
There were additional individuals served whose names we did not catch. This was a fruitful stop, and checking libraries may become part of our regular outreach rhythm on rainy days.
316th & Pacific Hwy – Walmart (“Home Home”) – 2:30 PM
Otha & Dale
Stayed in their vehicle out of the rain but received hot food and essentials. We have consistently seen these two over the last couple of months and are hoping to build a stronger relationship with them. Otha is a believer and has expressed interest in joining us at church.
Ida
Ida requested hot food and essentials. Jan assembled her bag. We stood by her vehicle as she shared how she was feeling and that she was doing better since the last time we prayed for her. Jan, Daniel D., Dan Y., and Linda prayed with her in Jesus’ Name.
320th & Pacific Hwy – Safeway – 3:30 PM
Jenny
Inquired about treatment. Korey explained that detox would be required first, followed by treatment. We have talked to Jenny in the past about this and believe she is close to taking that step.
Jenny is a believer, and I (Korey) encouraged her that although recovery can seem hopeless because of past failures, she would not be alone. I shared testimony of a couple of people I know who are currently in — or have completed — the Adult & Teen Challenge program. I expressed how she would be able to grow in her relationship with the Lord and that He would be with her throughout that process.
I also assured her that our team would cover her in prayer and that we are willing to help get her to detox and into the program when she is ready. She received our contact card but was not ready to go immediately. She also received all the essential supplies.
Louis
Recently lost his job, was evicted, and is living in his vehicle. He spoke with several team members and was prayed for by Dan Y., Rebekah, and Linda.
Donavon
Testimony shared below
Anthony
Received essentials and expressed gratitude.
Antonio
This was such an interesting interaction and ended in a way only God could bring about. We were getting ready to leave because we had been at Safeway for close to 40 minutes and were getting tight on time. As Antonio began walking toward us, it appeared he was frustrated and speaking to himself. I (Korey) felt led to approach him and ask if he wanted food.
As I engaged him, he immediately told me he felt bad. I asked him why, and he admitted that he had just been talking badly about us. I immediately told him, “The Lord forgives you, man — no worries. Let’s grab some food.”
His heart seemed to soften.
As we gathered food, we began talking about his life and his faith. Nearly a year ago, his son passed away from a drug overdose. He said he did not understand why God took him and expressed anger. He also shared guilt for not being able to help his son with addiction because of his own lifestyle.
The conversation turned into a powerful moment of ministry as we listened, asked questions, and encouraged him. Antonio fought back tears as he expressed his grief, his faith in God, and his frustration with not understanding the “why.” The longer we listened, the softer his heart became, and he allowed us to pray with him, and I couldn't help but give him a big hug before he left us.
Missy
Requested prayer for healing and housing. She seemed discouraged and said not much had changed since we saw her in December/January. Linda hugged her and prayed with her.
Evangeline & Charlie
While waiting for essentials and food, Vangie asked Evangeline if she knew her name meant “preacher.” This led into conversation about her situation. Kathryn and Rebekah joined, and both received prayer for redemption. They also received essentials.
Tony (Christian Faith Center)
Tony attends Christian Faith Center and does outreach with them. He expressed gratitude for us being out there. He shared a desire to see other churches partner with CFC and their outreach efforts.
He gave me (Korey) their team lead’s number and asked if I could reach out about possibly working together at some point. There was no assurance given, but I did express interest in talking with their team lead and gathering more information.
Testimonies from the Field (From Kathryn's perspective)
Donovan
Dan Davis and I (Kathryn) prayed for Donovan. He was homeless and already knew Jesus as his Savior.
Words of knowledge and prayer included:
Spine to be made straight — After prayer, he was able to stand upright.
Ringing in his ears — He confirmed this was a need (did not confirm change).
Baptism of the Holy Spirit renewal — After prayer, his countenance changed and he said, “I feel good.”
Arthritis — Confirmed need.
Addiction — Confirmed need and agreed in prayer.
During prayer, the Lord put on my heart to share with Donovan:
“I have need of you. I have a purpose for your life, and I am leading you out of this place of poverty and into restoration and a community of believers.”
Dan felt led to mention “Table Church” in the mall. Donovan confirmed someone from that church had invited him earlier that week — which he received as confirmation.
Samoan Couple
We prayed for a Samoan man and woman.
Male:
Low back injury — stated he was healed.
Prayer for inner healing.
Female:
Healing for feet and knees — stated healing in her feet.
Prayer for inner healing from abuse, abandonment, rejection, betrayal, and fear.
Restoration and reconciliation with family.
Word of knowledge about a child — confirmed.
Word of knowledge that the child was in someone else’s custody — confirmed.
Prayer for provision, protection, education, and physical healing of the child (possible learning disability sensed but not confirmed).
This reflects what I remember; Dan D. and Dan Y. may have more to add.
God is good, and He is faithful to carry out His word.

Conclusion
As we returned to NWC, unloaded supplies, and gathered in the gym to debrief, it felt like a family gathering. We shared the leftover minestrone soup Vangie made and talked about the different moments and conversations that touched our hearts and encouraged us.
The Lord is so good and has filled our team with loving and unique people. It is amazing to witness our team in action and to see the amount of ministry that happens while we are out there. This is a mission field ripe for the harvest, and it is such an honor to bring hope to the hopeless in our backyard.
