Our outreach team gathered at Randy and Colleen’s home to discuss ways to better serve the homeless community. Our mission remains to share the gospel, pray for salvation, healing, and discipleship, and help connect individuals to detox, treatment, and mental health resources when needed. At the heart of our outreach is a desire to build genuine relationships and find ways to disciple those who are open to the gospel.
We rejoiced in answered prayer as Colleen shared that her hip pain, which we prayed for at the last meeting, has not returned. We also prayed for Chris, who is currently experiencing back pain. The UGM Hope Van continues to pick up individuals from Brooklake Park every Tuesday at 7:30 PM for intake services in Seattle. Colleen prepared an updated list of treatment and detox resources to help the team respond quickly.
The team discussed new outreach ideas, including therapeutic park gatherings with art supplies and community barbecues in approved locations. We also made plans to pair drivers when transporting individuals to treatment and discussed ways to reduce food costs by preparing soup, sandwiches, and hot dogs through volunteers.
Our next step is to develop an official outreach plan for approval, with the next meeting tentatively scheduled for May 30.
